Coniston Park Coppice is our Lake District go to Campsite

We’ve been to Coppice Park five times over the last three years. It’s become one of our favourite campsites.

What makes this site stand out is the space. The pitches aren’t crammed together. You’re completely immersed in nature, surrounded by trees. It feels peaceful and private, just the way we like it.

Coniston Park Coppice is a Caravan and Motorhome Club Site

We joined the Caravan and Motorhome Club when we got our campervan. This was mainly to get a feel for the different types of sites out there. The reviews and information we found online suggested their sites were well-kept and regularly updated. In the case of Coppice Park has definitely been true in our experience.

Of all the Club sites we’ve visited, Coppice Park is our go to. It’s super close to Coniston Lake, which is perfect for paddle boarding, kayaking and wild swimming. Also good for the kids if they want to have a paddle too. There’s also a lovely walk from the site into the village, where you’ll find a few pubs serving great food and drinks.

On the site itself, there are a couple of play areas. Our two girls have loved them over the years. Now that they’re a bit older, they tend to skip the smaller play area and head straight for the one with the big swing and seat spinner. The toilets and showers are always spotless and cleaned daily which is a big plus.

At weekends, there’s a food and drink van on site serving light breakfasts. Think bacon or sausage baps, plus drinks including tea and coffee. One night you’ll find fish and chips on offer, and the next night it’s pizza. It’s a great little extra that makes the weekend stays feel even more special.

And with the campervan, it’s easy to do a day trip to Windermere. It’s only about half an hour away.

For me, the real magic of Coppice Park is being surrounded by nature. It’s such a peaceful, tucked-away site that it feels like a hidden gem. If you haven’t been yet, I definitely recommend adding it to your list!
